If you’re visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, there’s a dining spot that’s well worth adding to your plans: Wailulu Bar & Grill, a relaxed restaurant and lounge overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon.

Entrance to Wailulu Bar & Grill

The restaurant opened in December 2024 as part of the resort’s new Island Tower and gets its name from the Hawaiian words wai (meaning “water”) and lulu (meaning “calm”). It offers a perfect mix of great food, refreshing drinks, and lovely views, making it a popular choice for guests planning a Walt Disney World holiday.

Where to Find Wailulu Bar & Grill

Wailulu Bar & Grill is located within the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, just a short walk from the main resort area and Seven Seas Lagoon. Its slightly tucked-away position gives it a calm, relaxed feel, ideal if you want to step away from the busier parts of the resort without going far.

A Relaxed Atmosphere with Seven Seas Lagoon & Magic Kingdom Views

From the moment you arrive, Wailulu feels laid back and welcoming. The design blends modern Polynesian influences with warm colours and natural textures, creating a space that feels stylish without being formal.

The views are one of the biggest draws. Overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon, Wailulu offers clear sightlines across the water towards Magic Kingdom. In the evening, this becomes especially appealing, with the resort lights reflecting on the lagoon and the option to watch Magic Kingdom fireworks in the distance, accompanied by piped-in music.

And as it's a restaurant at one of the Walt Disney World resorts, you don't need a park ticket to enjoy the fantastic food, imaginative drinks and fireworks. Perfect if you're simply doing a Walt Disney World staycation.

Inside or Outside?

Outside on the terrace, you’ll have open views across Seven Seas Lagoon. During the day, it’s bright and relaxed, and as the afternoon moves into evening, the sky darkens, and the resort lights come on around the water. It’s a great place to settle in with a drink and enjoy how the atmosphere changes as night falls. There are heaters for chillier evenings.

Inside feels a little livelier, and you don’t run the risk of the weather affecting your evening. It’s ideal for a laid-back lunch or dinner away from the heat or any showers.

If you can, it’s worth trying both on different visits, as they offer two very different but equally enjoyable experiences.

Wailulu Bar & Grill Menu Highlights

The menu at Wailulu Bar & Grill focuses on bold, island-inspired flavours with a modern twist, and there are plenty of dishes that stand out.

The Ahi Tuna Crisps are incredible. They feature beautifully marinated ahi tuna served on crisp wontons, finished with creamy avocado, a touch of heat, and a soy glaze that ties everything together perfectly. They’re light, full of flavour, and an easy choice whether you’re sharing or ordering just for yourself.

Wayfinder Burger from Wailulu Bar and Grill at Disney's Polynesian Resort

Another popular choice is the Wayfinder Burger, which is a great option if you’re in the mood for something more filling. It’s well done, full of flavour, and sits nicely alongside the more island-inspired dishes on the menu. Sweet potato fries are included, but you can substitute for regular fries if you prefer.

Beyond that, you’ll find a mix of:

  • Shareable starters that are ideal for grazing

  • Mains with Polynesian influences

  • Burgers, fresh seafood, and lighter options to suit different appetites

The drinks menu is just as appealing, with tropical cocktails, mocktails, wines, beers, and specialty coffees. It’s a great spot to stop for a quick drink, but you may end up staying longer than planned once you see the menu!

Friendly, Knowledgeable Service

The team at Wailulu really adds to the experience. Staff are friendly, approachable, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. They are happy to offer recommendations or help you decide what to order. It creates a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

Daytime vs Evening Visits

Wailulu Bar & Grill feels noticeably different depending on the time of day you visit:

During the day, it’s bright, calm, and relaxed. Perfect for a leisurely lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, or a refreshing drink after time by the pool.

In the evening, the lighting softens, the lagoon reflects the resort lights, and the atmosphere becomes calmer and more atmospheric. This is especially true if you time your visit to coincide with the Magic Kingdom fireworks. A reservation here during the evening would really elevate a Disneymoon stay at Walt Disney World.

Fairytale Holidays Tips

Best time to visit: The evening to coincide with viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Order the ahi tuna crisps: They’re a must-try and perfect for sharing (or keeping all to yourself!).

Try the Wayfinder Burger: A great choice if you’re looking for something filling but still full of flavour.

Ask the staff for recommendations: The team is happy to suggest menu favourites and drinks based on your preferences.

Pack a light layer: It can get noticeably cooler by the water after sunset, especially in the winter months, so having a jacket or sweater handy is a smart idea.

Combine your meal with a browse around the shops at the Polynesian and make time for pre or post-dinner drinks at Trader Sam's Grog Grotto.
