Orlando Weather Advice – When is the best time to holiday in Orlando?

The weather in Orlando is a hugely important factor for British tourists, so it’s worth being aware of what to expect before you book your holiday.

The average temperature in Orlando ranges between 20°C and 39°C during the day, so there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sunshine when it’s not too hot! It's worth remembering that it can get cold at night time, with temperatures dropping down to around 10°C in the "winter" months. Christmas 2022 even saw the temperature dropping to 0°C on Christmas Day!

Orlando in January

Average temperature 11 – 22°c

January temperatures in Orlando range from a high of 22°C during the day to a low of 11°C at night. On average there is only four rainy days throughout the month which makes it a great time to visit.

The Orlando theme parks are open all year round, but some of the rides might be closed for refurbishment. The Orlando water parks tend to have their yearly refurbishments during Jan/Feb. Make sure you check the schedules before your holiday!

Average temperature 12 – 23°c

February is a great time to visit Walt Disney World as the temperatures are lovely and warm during the day, although it can get a little chilly in the evening. The average temperature in Orlando during February ranges from 12°C to 23°C which can be incredibly enjoyable. February is a relatively dry month. It rains a little, but it’s not really bad.

Average temperture 14 – 26°c

March is a lovely month to go to Florida, when the temperatures are pleasant and warm throughout the day and sees the chill lifting in the evening. The average March temperature in Orlando is around 26°C during the day and 14°C at night. March has in average five rainy days. Most of this falls as light rain so it shouldn’t disrupt your holiday plans too much.

Average temperature 17 – 29°c

April is a popular month to visit Orlando due to the two weeks Easter holidays.. The weather is getting hot with the average temperature up to 29°C and the evenings still seeing a more enjoyable temperature drop. April averages at around 160mm of rain over 5 days, which falls as light showers or drizzle that is welcomed in the heat.

Orlando in May

Average temperature 20 – 33°c

May is one of the hottest months at Walt Disney World with temperatures reaching up to 32°C or 33°C. It's one of the hottest due to the fact the rainy season hasn't officially started yet. in May, there are on average around 6 rainy days. This usually means there is a chance of a little rain shower or two during your holiday but it's the humidity that could be more problematic. Average temperature 23 – 33°c

June is another hot month in Orlando and can reach temperatures of up to 35°C! It's incredibly humid and the start of the rainy season so you will probably encounter a rain storm or two during your visit. While these can be quite heavy, due to the hot weather everything dries out incredibly fast. Another perk is this is summer season so all parks tend to be open later so you can enjoy the cooler evenings.

Average temperature 24 – 33°c

July and August are very hot with temperatures often reaching above 33°C. This is the height of rainy season with afternoon showers most days. However, this is often welcomed as it cools the air off slightly and reduces humidity. It's a great time to go still due to it being the summer holidays, and August crowds tend to be good due to the US schools going back. Remember, a rainy day at Disney is better than a rainy day at home!

Orlando in September

Average temperature 23- 29°c

September is a lovely month to visit Florida – it’s still warm with temperatures reaching up to 29°C

September is the tail end of the rainy season, and while you might see some rainfall it'll be a lot less than the early months. It will also feel a lot less humid.

Average temperature 20 – 29°c

October is another lovely month to visit with temperatures reaching up to 28°C or 29°C. The rainy season is over so showers will no longer be a regular occurrence. The evenings are starting to cool down and while it won't feel like Autumn due to the heat, it will definitely feel like Halloween! And you can even attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party to celebrate spooky season!

Orlando in November

Average temperature 15 – 27°c

In November you will likely experience temperatures reaching up to 26°C or 27°C during the day, and dropping down into the "teens" during the evening. It's a relatively dry month though with little to no rain. It's likely to be a lot less humid too, and incredibly enjoyable weather-wise day and night.

Average temperature 12 – 23°c

While the weather in Orlando tends to get cooler by December, it's very rare you'll experience a UK style winter, and even then, it'll be a few days at most before the heat is back! December is another dry month and while it might not feel warm enough to hit the pool, the parks will be very pleasant to walk around.

What To Pack & Wear For Orlando Weather

Check the average temperature and rainfall amount for your month of travel and pack accordingly. You’ll definitely need some sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and comfortable shoes as well as light clothes for the day and some warm clothes for nighttime if you're visiting November - March. If you’re travelling during rainy season bring a brolly, ponch or raincoat!

Orlando Temperatures & Weather Summary

Orlando is a great place to visit throughout the year, you're pretty much always guaranteed both heat and sun. January or February are good for people who want to avoid peak weather and crowds with average temperatures around 22° C or 23° C. April or May are the best times to visit with a family as it's hot and you'll have the chance to enjoy all the pools and waterparks (Liv would spend whole days at the pool if I let her!). June or July are really hot AND wet months so try to avoid these if possible or find shelter from the sun. September or October can be lovely as they aren’t too cold or hot and you’ll get a fair amount of sunshine. November or December are great months to visit if you want some cooler weather and you get to enjoy a Disney Christmas!
